Biography
I’ve explored sound production and communication across various species of animals and scientific settings, driven by a passion for understanding and conserving their behaviors. My work has spanned from studying vocal learning in songbirds and the role of visual cues in their communication to enhancing acoustic biodiversity monitoring through the collection of grasshopper and cicada sounds and the implementation of novel machine-learning techniques. In my PhD project, I aim to delve into the vocal interactions of social mammals, examining their dynamics and functions through field-collected movement and audio data. I plan to leverage machine learning techniques tailored for detecting and analyzing vocalizations across a wide array of species, contributing to our knowledge and conservation efforts.
