Biography
How did animals evolve to communicate using diverse mechanisms across space and time? How can we study them without disturbing their natural behavior? I am an enthusiast in animal communication and bioacoustic adaptation in interdisciplinary research. After studying bioengineering for my bachelor’s degree, I combined my learning with my interests to study the calls of the invasive American Bullfrog for my Ecology master’s thesis, gaining field and bioacoustic experience along the way. For my PhD project, I aim to investigate the spatio-temporal song variation and singing behavior of Yellowhammers, using both individual and passive acoustic monitoring methods. I will also work in applying and evaluating acoustic monitoring methods and machine-learning algorithms to study animal ecology and behavior, in collaboration with colleagues from the Bioacoustic AI project.
